Crime Report:
On February 27, 2025, at 5:00 PM, businessman Moniruzzaman came out of the 11th "SRB" of the elevator of Gulshan-2 Confidence Tower under Gulshan Police Station with the office money and came downstairs. As soon as he came downstairs, 4/5 unknown people abused businessman Moniruzzaman in foul language for no reason. At one stage of the abuse, the terrorists started beating him indiscriminately and at one stage, threatening him with a weapon, forcibly took him away in an unknown CNG.
When asked about the kidnapping, Moniruzzaman's wife, Mosha Mim Khatun, said, "Like every day, my husband Moniruzzaman called me after finishing his office and said that the bank was closed today, the parties had not been paid, and we should take the money home. When my husband came to his office with the money, at that moment, some terrorists came and started beating my husband indiscriminately before he could understand anything. Then, when the other staff members of my husband's office tried to stop the terrorists, they threatened them with murder and injury, but none of them dared to move forward." When my husband was abducted, he had 2 smart phones with him, whose estimated market value is 2,50,000/- (two lakh fifty thousand) taka, 02 gold necklaces weighing 0.80 kg, whose estimated market value is 2,80,000/- (two lakh eighty thousand), and business money in a shopping bag. The terrorists took all of them by force. Later, the abductors called me and demanded a ransom of 70 lakh taka. When I could not find any other way, I came to Gulshan Police Station and informed about my husband's abduction. Gulshan Police Station took immediate action using information technology and with the help of several students of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, rescued my husband in an injured condition from B-2 flat, 3rd floor, Road No. 09, House No. 277, Bashundhara J Block, Bhatara Police Station, i.e. from the rented house of the defendants Nos. 04 and 05.
She further said that the abductor terrorists threatened my husband with weapons and took away valuables including about 20 lakh taka through transfer to the bank accounts of various businessmen. Currently, my husband is in bad physical condition and has been admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital. She has filed a case with Gulshan Police Station against a total of ten people, including 6 people and 4/5 unknown people, in connection with the kidnapping. She has also demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in this incident.
In this regard, Gulshan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mahmud told reporters, "The victim's wife filed a case in the said incident.
