The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) conducted an undercover operation at the Jhalakathi Regional Passport Office. During this, three brokers were arrested. Later, one person was sentenced to 7 days in prison and fined 200 taka through a mobile court. The mobile court was conducted by Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner Saiful Islam.
The convicted Kawsar Sikder is the son of Syed Ali Sikder of Krishnakathi area of the city.
Pirojpur District Office Assistant Director Md. Arif Hossain said, "After receiving the complaint, the ACC conducted a raid under the guise of the Jhalokati Regional Passport Office. Later, Kawsar demanded Tk 12,000 from the ACC officials in front of the passport office on the condition of handing over the passport. Later, he was caught red-handed. Two more people were detained during this time, and later the two were released on bail."
Assistant Commissioner Saiful Islam said that after receiving the complaint, an ACC team conducted a raid. Later, three people were arrested red-handed. Later, one of them was sentenced to 7 days of simple imprisonment and fined 200 taka. The other two were released on bail.
