An anti-drug discussion meeting was held with the theme of "Say no to drugs, build a drug-free society". The meeting was held at 11:30 am today at the Purba Tarapasha ground in Ward No. 7 of Kishoreganj Municipality. Gazi Md. Masud and Md. Mostafa moderated the meeting and Azizur Rahman Jabed presided over the program. The main speaker of the meeting was former councilor Anwar Karim Khan Nannu, while the chief guest was Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station, Md. Liton Mia, officer of Railway Police Station, and Ariful Islam Arju, former councilor of Ward No. 7. Also spoke among others.
The chief guest said in his speech that a comprehensive campaign will be launched against drugs soon. The administration will not make any concessions on the issue of drugs, nor will any lobbying recommendations be made on the issue of drug users and drug dealers. The role of the family is very important in eliminating drug addiction from the society. The awareness, love, strong commitment and active role of every family will strictly prevent the horror called drug addiction. Along with the administration, every family and society should come forward to create a social movement locally to eradicate drugs. We, the district police, are always by your side to make Kishoreganj drug-free. Along with this, your cooperation is also desirable, we should create a social movement against drugs. If you are by our side, we will bring back the drug dealers and users, no matter who they are, even if they are a hundred feet below us, Insha Allah.
The speakers at the meeting urged parents to be aware. They urged everyone, including law enforcement, to work together to get rid of drug addiction, as families and the local community are suffering from it.
Among others present at the event were Nurul Islam Master, Hafez Maulana Abdullah, prominent businessman Delwar Hossain Dulal, former army officer ATM Mustafa, Delwar Hossain Dulal, Anisur Rahman Sohel, Ikramur Rahman Ikram, Nazmul Islam, Mobashvir and others.
