A man named Ujjwal Biswas (35) was allegedly strangled to death due to a family dispute in Srirampur village of Talimpur union in Barolekha upazila of Moulvibazar. Police have arrested the deceased's wife Dipna Rani Biswas and younger brother Jantu Biswas in this incident.
According to local sources, 'Ujjwal Biswas was a CNG auto-rickshaw driver by profession. His younger brother Jantu Biswas had an extramarital affair with his wife Dipana Rani. When Ujjwal came to know about it, the two planned to kill him.'
Ujjwal was strangled to death with a muffler while he was sleeping late last Sunday (February 16). His body was later dumped some distance from his house to hide the evidence of the murder.
Later, on Monday (February 17) morning, locals saw the body lying on the side of the road and informed the police.
Police recovered the body from the scene and sent it to the morgue for autopsy. The deceased's father, Subodh Biswas, is reportedly preparing to file a case at the police station.
This has created a stir in the area. Locals have demanded exemplary punishment for the culprits.
