The body of a man named Md. Asadul Radhi (50) with a towel wrapped around his neck was recovered from the mosque in Bauphale, Patuakhali. The body was recovered from the mosque in Radhi Bari of Keshabpur village of the upazila on Friday (21) morning. Asadul is the son of Majid Radhi of the same village.
According to local and family sources, Asadul Radhi left his house on Thursday morning with 1,000 taka from his brother Babul Radhi, saying he was going to Dhaka. He did not return home the whole day. At around 10:30 pm, he entered the mosque in front of the house. When the imam of the mosque asked him, he (Asadul) said that he would leave after offering prayers. After some time, the imam left home. In the early hours of the morning, Asadul's cousin Dulal Radhi came to the mosque to give the Fajr call to prayer and saw him (Asadul) sitting in a dead state with a used mosque towel wrapped around his neck and screamed. When the matter came to light, the locals informed the police. The police went and recovered the body.
Asadul's brother Babul Radhi said, "My brother's wife and children do not live with him. They live in Dhaka. Asadul has been living at home for almost a year. He left home yesterday to go to Dhaka. His body was taken to the mosque in the morning. I cannot say whether he committed suicide or there was some other incident."
Bauphal Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Kamal Hossain said, after receiving the information, the police went and recovered the body. The body has been sent to Patuakhali Sadar Hospital for autopsy. The exact cause of death is not yet known. Police are investigating to find out the exact cause.
