A case has been filed at the Bogra police station over the murder of a mother and daughter who were stabbed to death while they were sleeping late at night. The murder case was filed at the Bogra Sadar Police Station around 9 pm on Sunday by the son of the deceased Sakhina Begum, Chabbir Hossain.
The only accused in the case is Rubel Hasan (31), the ex-husband of Sakhina Begum. Rubel Hasan is a resident of Akashtara Madhyapara area of Bogra city. It is alleged that Rubel Hasan woken Sakhina Begum (35) up at 1 am last Friday and hacked her to death with a hatchet. When she came forward to save her daughter, her ex-mother-in-law Anwara Bibi (85) was also hacked to death. Anwara Bibi later died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. Sakhina Begum's ex-husband Rubel Hasan went into hiding after the murder.
The case file states that after Sakhina Begum was divorced by Badsha Mia of Hasnapara in Sariakandi Upazila, she got married to the accused Rubel Hasan for the second time seven-eight years ago. After the marriage, Rubel Hasan did not provide any maintenance to Sakhina Begum, nor did he keep track of her. After not communicating for four years and becoming addicted to drugs, Sakhina divorced Rubel Hasan and remarried her first husband Badsha Mia. Rubel Hasan got angry and threatened to kill Sakhina.
Last Friday night at around 1:15 am, Rubel Hasan came to his house in Subgram, a suburb, and started calling out to Sakina Begum. Sakina and her mother Anwara Begum were sleeping in one room. Chabbir was sleeping in the other room. As soon as the bedroom door was opened, Rubel Hasan started hitting Sakina with a hammer in his hand. At that time, Anwara woke up to her daughter's screams and came to protect her, but she was also stabbed and injured. When Chabbir came forward to the screams of Sakina and Anwara, Rubel chased her with a knife. At that time, the neighbors came running. Realizing that the situation was dangerous, Rubel ran away.
