A mobile court has fined a retail fertilizer dealer named Ma Bija Bhandar Tk 30,000 for illegally storing 300 bags of urea fertilizer brought from Netrokona at Gobindapur Bazar in Moilakanda Union in Gauripur Upazila of Mymensingh. At the same time, it has ordered the sale to the general farmers of the area at the government price in the presence of the Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer in charge of the union.
The dealer was fined on Thursday (February 13) night after evidence of illegal storage of fertilizer was found during a raid by the Gouripur Upazila Executive Officer and the learned Executive Magistrate.
Gauripur Upazila Executive Officer M. Sajjadul Hasan said that mobile courts are being run across the upazila to prevent illegal stockpiling of fertilizers and selling fertilizers at high prices. A fine has been collected from the owner of the fertilizer dealer Ma Bid Bhandar for illegal stockpiling. There is no shortage of fertilizers in Gauripur Upazila. He urged everyone to provide information to the local agriculture department and upazila administration to prevent illegal stockpiling and excessive prices.
Present during the operation of the mobile court were Upazila Agriculture Officer Nilufar Yasmin Jolly, Agricultural Extension Officer Md. Rakibul Islam, Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer and the general public of the area.
