Bangla Sign Language Day 2025 was celebrated in Satkhira with the theme "One world, one language, I want a universal sign language." A colorful rally and discussion meeting were held on the occasion.
On Friday (February 7) morning, a discussion meeting was held at the Satkhira Deputy Commissioner's conference room to mark the celebration of Bangla Sign Language Day, replacing the rally.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Bishnupada Pal spoke as the chief guest at the discussion meeting chaired by Santosh Kumar Nath, Deputy Director of Satkhira District Social Services Office.

Satkhira District Social Services Office Assistant Director Md. Rokonuzzaman moderated the discussion meeting, and the guests who spoke were Additional District Magistrate Ripon Biswas, District Information Officer Md. Jaharul Islam, District Disability Affairs Officer Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Sadar Upazila Social Services Officer Md. Shariful Islam, Executive Director of CID Shyamal Kumar Biswas, and Executive Director of the Disabled Rehabilitation Welfare Association Md. Abul Kalam Azad.
Also speaking were Rafiqul Islam, a teacher at Swiss Khatimunnesa Hanif Laskar School for the Intellectually Handicapped, Taherun Nesa, a teacher at High Care School, Deepa Rani Mandal, a teacher at Sampriti Speech and Hearing Impaired School, and Shaibya Rani Mandal. Jamena Khatun and Ayesha Khatun, students of Sampriti Speech and Hearing Impaired School, spoke in sign language.
In the discussion meeting, the speakers demanded the permanent establishment of schools for the speech, hearing and disabled in the district on Bangla Sign Language Day from the district administration and senior officials. Moreover, the disabled are not a burden on society. They called on the guardians and their teachers to develop them as good citizens instead of belittling them.
