A mobile court has fined three pharmacies in Raipur Upazila of Lakshmipur for selling expired and physician samples. The drive was conducted on Wednesday (February 18) under the direction of Raipur Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Md. Imran Khan and under the supervision of Lakshmipur Deputy Commissioner. The mobile court was conducted by Government Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Shahed Arman.
During the mobile court operation, Purnabasi Pharmacy, Mohammadiya Pharmacy and Popular Pharmacy were found guilty of stockpiling expired and physician samples for sale. Under Section 40 (b) and (c) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 2023, a total fine of 18,000 (eighteen thousand) taka was imposed on the three pharmacies for this offence and the same was collected immediately.
Mr. Dalim Chandra Das, Drug Superintendent of Drug Administration Lakshmipur, was present as the prosecutor in the operation. In addition, police members also participated in the operation to maintain law and order.
The upazila administration said that such campaigns will continue regularly in the public interest.
